As a volunteer in GCA

There were many volunteers in GCA. Before the play starts, they painted pillars for the play, and they joined this activity because they wanted to do it without money. They did painting very well. How about me? I am a member of them. On the weekend, we joined together at Art Room to do some volunteering. There were many students from different classes. In 10-C, there were Alex, Rita, john, me, etc. We did different jobs. Alex and Rita made Christmas hats. John, Maria and me did painting the pillars. First, we should paint white evenly. If it was dry, we need draw some lattice by brown, and they were filled by green. I drew black in the brown lattice after they became dry again. I did this so that it looks like an old thing.
During we were working, I found a truth: do as well as you could, do as much as you could. For example, I was painting black lonely, because there were many students painting white, brown and green. Ms.Hadley suggested I paint black in lattice. I was glad I can did some working, but there were many pillars need paint black in lattice. I did my job very quickly. I was not very careful, so I sometimes painted black into green. My classmate saw, and she said “Do not do it in a hurry, we still have many time to finish them. After I finish my working, I would paint black with you. Do it with your patient.” I smiled to her, and I tried to do as well as I could. I tried to finish painting black on pillars as much as I can.
There was interesting to work with many people, even though I do not know who they are. The reason is I do not realize the partner of mine. When I was working, I was also talking with him. The beginning does not need introduce each other, I may start talking by a car, an apple. Then I had a new friend. It was easy to working with many people. In China, there is a saying “Many people pick up firewood, and then we have a very high flame.” It means many people do the same job at the same time, the job would be finished quickly and wonderfully. During we were working, people were joining us. We finished quickly, and we cleaning the tools and yards fast. It was useful to work with many people. I have the chance to get alone with different kinds of people. I have the chance to realize other ways about my classmates. I also could learn something new from some people, from paint.
In a word, I like volunteering with many people. It was a new experience for me. I think volunteers usually go to old people’s home, and they usually clean the room, perform for ole people or listen to them. I have never volunteered by painting pillars, I know a new meaning of volunteer.
